Rolls-Royce Auctioned for Victims of Natural Disasters

It appears that car auctions can be used as a means to help others.  That is exactly what the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini is planning on doing: auctioning off unused luxury cars. The proceeds from the auction will be used to help victims of natural disasters in Indonesia.

Items that will be auctioned, including several units of cars, are unpredictable prizes (HTT) from lotteries held by private companies. One of the luxury cars auctioned will be a Rolls-Royce from the lottery program of a national airline.

“There are laws regulating prizes. Prizes that are unpredictable and those that are not claimed [by the winners] are handed over to the Ministry of Social Affairs,” explained Risma when visiting the location where the luxury car was stored.

There are more than 300 prizes that are stored properly by the Ministry of Social Affairs.  The prizes include four- and two-wheeled vehicles, household appliances, precious metals, telecommunication equipment, electronic devices, etc. Among these are Rolls-Royce and Mercedes Benz cars.

Proceeds from the auction can be used to help with the construction of special housings for victims of natural disasters. The cost of Rolls-Royce at the time of the lottery was around Rp8.3 billion. The minister wishes that the listed price of the car for the auction would be the same as the current market price.

The 2012 Rolls-Royce Ghost is a premium car with a 6,600 cc, V12 engine, combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission system and a rear-wheel-drive system. Aside from being luxurious and elegant, its engine can generate 562 hp of peak power at 5,250 rpm and 780 Nm of torque at 1,500 rpm. That much power allows Rolls-Royce Ghost Series to accelerate from 0 to 100 km in only 5 seconds and have a top speed of up to 250km/hour.

If you’re interested in buying the car by auction, but your budget only allows you for a station wagon, you can join the action at Balai Lelang IBID (IBID Auction Hall).  As an auction hall under Astra group, IBID always creates an innovation, namely in regard to auction service, process, and objects.

Since its establishment, IBID is well known as an auction hall that sells used vehicles like cars and motorcycles. However, IBID also auctions other items as well. IBID also sells heavy vehicles, such as vehicles used in areas of mining, construction, plantation, etc.
