A safe and comfortable environment is one of the key aspects of a child’s growth and development, allowing them to learn, create, and express themselves more effectively.
On Saturday, June 13, 2026, PT Serasi Autoraya (SERA) partnered with SDN 03 Sungai Bambu in North Jakarta to create this safe space through the “The Charm of Mangrove Batik: Creating and Innovating” program. This initiative is also part of the global “Safe from Harm” campaign.
During this activity, students were introduced to two batik-making techniques: stamped batik (batik cap) and hand-drawn batik (batik tulis). All the artwork created featured mangrove batik motifs inspired by the rich mangrove forest ecosystem.
Mangrove batik incorporates many elements of flora and fauna, such as roots, leaves, flowers, mangrove fruits, and various coastal species. The colors used are predominantly reddish-brown, brownish-green, and golden yellow—the signature hues of mangrove batik.
Beyond learning about culture and the environment, this activity is also designed to help students better understand the vital role of mangrove ecosystems in the environment. Additionally, it fosters a positive and mutually respectful learning atmosphere and environment.
“We believe that a good education is not just about academics, but also about character building. Through the ‘Pesona Batik Mangrove’ activity, students not only learn about art and culture, but also the importance of mutual respect, cooperation, and creating a safe environment for self-expression,” said Ridwan Ika, SERA CSR Supervisor.
All of the mangrove batik works created by the students will be displayed in a mini-gallery at SDN 03 Sungai Bambu as a form of appreciation for the students’ creativity.
Through this collaboration, SERA also hopes to continue contributing to the creation of a safe and positive learning environment for children, while fostering a generation that is creative, environmentally conscious, and proud of Indonesian culture.
