SERA’S ACTIVE CONTRIBUTION TO THE ENVIRONMENT THROUGH THE WASTE BANK PROGRAM

Jakarta - PT Serasi Autoraya (SERA) actively contributes to protecting the environment by participating in the Waste Bank program organized by Puspa Candra Kana Waste Bank, Sunter last May. This contribution was a follow-up action by SERA and its subsidiaries under the Domestic Waste Handling program for waste management, especially in reducing plastic or cardboard waste accumulation. The waste collected in the waste bank is then recycled—for example, from plastic bottles into plant pots and from plastic waste cuts into flakes as a material used in brick/concrete blocks—all while empowering local women.

This program is a follow-up to the previous activities that SERA has participated in since 2019, such as Astra’s Semangat Kurangi Plastik (Passion for Reducing Plastic Waste) initiative, and the organic and inorganic waste sorting program, where in the current year SERA has also created a new category of waste segregation, namely e-waste or electronic hazardous waste. With these programs, we hope that everyone at SERA will be inspired to do the same at home. Therefore, we all can actively contribute by sorting wastes from the source to reduce the wastes that will go to the landfills (TPA).

"In order to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that promote, among others, responsible consumption and production, climate actions, and sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, SERA is committed to continuously making and giving positive contributions for the life of future generations," said Happy Putro, SERA’s Head of the General Affairs Division.
