In Indonesia, the need for halal assurance is a growing urgency that companies must pay close attention to, as it has become a fundamental requirement for products and goods to be accepted in the market.
A Halal Certificate is a legal document verifying the halal status of a product or service, issued by the BPJPH (Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency under the Ministry of Religious Affairs), based on a written halal fatwa issued by the MUI (Indonesian Ulema Council).
The benefits of a halal certificate include ensuring the quality and halal status of a product, expanding market reach, and increasing consumer trust in the product being used.

Currently, halal certification is generally known to apply only to specific products such as food, beverages, medicines, and cosmetics. However, in reality, there are seven service sectors related to the said products that are required to obtain halal certification. Including:
Slaughtering services
Processing services
Storage services
Packaging services
Distribution services
Sales services, and
Serving services
Among these sectors, storage, packaging, and distribution services are grouped as logistics services. As a result, logistics service providers are now required to have halal logistics certification to ensure halal compliance in managing logistics for food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic products.
One of the reasons logistics services must be halal-certified is that halal product assurance must meet the principle of traceability, from the beginning of production to when the product reaches the consumer.
This means that every related aspect must comply with established standards. It must also be ensured that there is no risk of contamination from non-halal substances.
This traceability principle starts with the storage process at the producer's warehouse or material source, following the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH), to prevent contamination from non-halal or impure substances.
Next, the distribution process from the producer to the storage location must also use transportation that complies with SJPH to avoid cross-contamination between halal and non-halal products.

In addition to the distribution and delivery process, the following logistics activities must also meet SJPH standards.
Packing or repacking
Labeling
Separation of containers for halal and non-halal products
Loading or stuffing
Unloading
Receiving in the warehouse
Put-away and storage
