SERA Empowers PKK Community Through Batik Tulis Training

As an expression of its dedication to the four core pillars of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)—Education, Environment, Health, and Community Empowerment—PT Serasi Autoraya (SERA) once again rolled out a meaningful CSR initiative on July 16, 2025. Around 50 members of the PKK Dasawisma community joined a hands-on batik tulis training session themed “Creative Collaboration: The Charm of Natural Batik with Dasawisma Mothers”.

The interactive batik-making workshop was filled with energy. Eager learners followed the mentors closely through each step—from sketching designs and tracing them with canting to the final coloring and drying process. They were also encouraged to unleash their creativity by crafting unique batik motifs that reflected their individuality. The goal was to equip participants with marketable skills, with a hope of driving long-term economic empowerment in the Pesanggrahan District.

SERA CSR Supervisor Ridwan Ika shared how the initiative was meant to boost creativity as well as to cultivate meaningful values and a strong sense of empowerment, especially among PKK members. He expressed his hopes that this initiative could evolve into a broader movement, potentially leading to the establishment of a kelurahan-level organization like Abdi Praja Batik Group—an organization dedicated to preserving batik heritage and growing into a self-reliant Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME). “That way, batik can eventually become a sustainable source of income for the community,” he said.

SERA holds firm to the belief that a prosperous and sustainable future begins with small steps fueled by the power of collaboration. One of the participants, Maria, shared her thoughts: "It was fun and exciting, though a little difficult. But that only makes me want to keep trying."

Through CSR initiatives like this, SERA remains committed to inspiring positive changes within the community.
