Several provinces have announced the new 2024 provincial minimum wages (UMP). The increase in minimum wages is based on Government Regulation (PP) No. 51/2023 on the amendments to Government Regulation (PP) No. 36/2021 on Wages. The new UMP is set to appreciate the workers’ contribution to the national economic development.The Ministry of Manpower (Menaker), Ida Fauziyah, has instructed all provincial governors in Indonesia to determine the 2024 UMP increase no later than November 21, 2023, and regency minimum wages (UMK) on November 30, 2023.Director General of Industrial Relations Development and Employment Social Security of the Ministry of Manpower (Dirjen PHI Jamsos), Indah Anggoro Putri, said in her official statement that the 2024 minimum wage rise does not amount to more than Rp 200,000 because it only applies to workers with less than one year of service.“Note that the new wage regulation only applies to new workers with less than one year of service. Therefore, the increase will not amount to Rp 1-2 million.
